3 killed, 2 hurt in crash on I-75 in Bartow County, GSP says
BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Three people died and two others are in the hospital after a crash involving six vehicles on I-75 Tuesday morning.
According to Georgia State Patrol (GSP), the crash involved three tractor-trailers and three passenger vehicles on Highway 140 in Bartow County.
They said a tractor-trailer was going north on I-75 and collided with a Hyundai Sonata.
After the crash, the Sonata went off the right shoulder, but the tractor-trailer crossed the median and into the southbound lanes, causing collisions with two other trucks, a Toyota Corolla and a Ford Ranger.
The Ford Ranger caught on fire, according to GSP.
All lanes on I-75 southbound were shut down for hours as the investigation began. As of 11:30 a.m., one lane remained blocked.
At this time, GSP is still working on finding out what caused the first crash on the northbound side that started the entire incident.
