5 Students Hospitalized After Car Runs Red Light, Slams Into DeKalb County School Bus
Thirty Lakeside High School students were on board when a passenger car struck their bus at a busy intersection Friday morning.
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Five Lakeside High School students were taken to the hospital Friday morning, Sept. 4, after a passenger car ran a red light and crashed into their school bus, according to the DeKalb County School District.
The collision happened at the intersection of Briarcliff Road and Fisher Trail. District officials said 30 students were riding the bus at the time of the crash.
The conditions of the five students taken to the hospital have not been released.
The remaining students were moved to a second bus and taken on to school, the school system said.
DeKalb County police are leading the investigation into the crash. As of Friday afternoon, no charges had been announced, and it remains unclear whether the driver of the car will face any citations.
