The workers were gathering equipment outside their parked truck when the Amazon vehicle veered onto the shoulder, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. — Two workers were killed Monday morning, Sept. 14, when an Amazon truck drifted onto the right shoulder of Interstate 95 and slammed into their parked truck, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The workers were outside their vehicle collecting equipment on the side of the interstate at the time of the crash, WJCL reported.

Authorities said the impact pushed the workers’ truck across three lanes of traffic and over the guardrail. Both workers were struck and killed.

The crash shut down northbound I-95 for more than four hours.

The Georgia State Patrol has not released the names of the victims or said whether the driver of the Amazon truck will face charges. It also remains unclear what caused the truck to leave its lane.
