CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A crash on a busy Cherokee County highway killed a Hall County father of two over the Memorial Day weekend.

The crash happened Saturday at 6:30 p.m. off Highway 92 at Ridge Mill Drive The sheriff’s office said a driver was trying to turn left onto the highway when she pulled out in front of Cole Letson on his motorcycle.

The two vehicles collided, killing Letson. The 53-year-old driver of the car and a child in the passenger seat were taken to the hospital with serious to minor injuries.

Letson’s fiance Haley Brookshire told Channel 2 Action News that they were supposed to get married in November and he had plans to take over the family business.

She and her fiancée were childhood sweethearts and dated off and on since sixth grade. Letson also leaves behind two young daughters.

“He was an excellent father. That was his biggest achievement,” Brookshire said.

Brookshire’s sister Amber Johnson set up a GoFundMe account with the funds going toward Letson’s daughters’ necessities and future education.

“Cole was one of the hardest working men that I knew and he always worked his butt off to make sure that Haley and the girls were provided for and taken care of,” Johnson wrote. “And I know he would still want them to be taken care of now.”

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said no charges have been filed against the driver at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
