Funeral arrangements announced for firefighter killed in boating accident

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The Gainesville Fire Department has released the funeral arrangements for one of their own who was killed during a weekend boating accident.

 


Chandler Patterson was being pulled on a tube behind a boat Saturday on Lake Tugaloo when he fell off.

Investigators said as the boat then turned around to go back for him, it ran him over in the process.

The driver of the boat has been charged with boating under the influence.

The Gainesville Fire Department said it was going to help pick up Patterson’s body and escort him back on Thursday ahead of his visitation and funeral.
 


His celebration of life will follow starting at 2 p.m.

“We are extremely grateful for the community support we have received during this difficult time,” the department said. “Chandler was a super friendly person with an incredible personality! He brought smiles to everyone around him with his laid back and caring demeanor. He will be missed dearly.”

 

 

Patterson leaves behind his wife Alyssa.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Chandler’s memory to the  National Rifle Association online or the Folds of Honor Foundation.
