Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea,

Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. Any consumers concerned about an illness should contact a physician.

Consumers are asked to check their freezers for the recalled products and not to eat them. Either discard the product or return it to the store for a full refund.

Sunrise Growers said its products with different lot codes or best by dates are not affected by this recall.
