DeKalb Police report a devastating 10-car pileup that occurred early Saturday morning, September 30, on I-285 E, near exit 51. The tragic event resulted in two fatalities and several injuries, shaking the community and disrupting travel for hours.

 

The Immediate Aftermath

Emergency responders from the DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department were among the first on the scene, battling to save lives and clear the wreckage. All lanes on I-285 E were closed for a minimum of six hours, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. This created extreme delays, prompting officials to advise motorists to steer clear of the area.

 

Casualties and Injuries

Police discovered two individuals dead upon their arrival at approximately 3:50 a.m. Furthermore, at least five people were reported injured. Four of these were rushed to hospitals with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The scale of this accident serves as a sobering reminder of the potential dangers on the road.
